With a decade’s experience in publishing, I’ve gained plenty of insight from working on ‘both sides on the fence’. I worked at Curtis Brown Literary Agency, before becoming an author myself. In addition to publishing my novels, I’ve written short stories and articles for media outlets as diverse as The Guardian and The Daily Mail, Woman & Home and LitHub. I work as a mentor and creative writing tutor for Curtis Brown Creative and have run sold-out corporate arts workshops in Cambridge, UK.

editorial services
Finished a first (or fifth!) draft of your novel but struggling to see the wood for the trees?
If so, I offer services for all needs and budgets:
* manuscript appraisals/editorial assessments consisting of a detailed written report tailored to your specific queries and a follow-up Zoom.
*structural/developmental editing, working on a closer, scene-by-scene and line-by-line level, offering a fully marked-up manuscript as well as a detailed editorial report.
*agent-submission package review of a query-letter, synopsis and first three chapters. Advice on hooks, blurbs and tips to stand out on the submissions pile.
mentoring/book-coaching
Looking for some support in the long-slog that is writing a novel? Maybe you need a sounding board for tricky plot-problems or are seeking a sense of accountability to make sure you hit your writing goals on schedule?
If so, I offer:
*Tailored 1-2-1 sessions, tackling stumbling-blocks and helping plan forwards progress.
*Written and verbal feedback on up to 10,000 words per session (or your outline, chapter breakdown or concept development, depending on your stage).
*Insights into the publishing industry, where your work might fit on bookshelves and the process of publication.
